چکیده

in the last decade, cellular automata models have been widely used for simulation spatial phenomena; however, exact nature of these models have been lead to various limitations for essential simulation of these phenomena. in this research, traditional cellular automata models have been developed through fuzzy theory, in which, transition rules are expressed based on fuzzy logic control methodology. in practice, this model has been used for simulation of urban growth in esfahan between 1990 and 2009.

Modeling Urban Growth using Fuzzy Cellular Automata

Urban modeling is an important tool for efficient policy designing. We herein present a methodological framework for urban modeling which attempts to access the multi-level urban growth dynamics and express them in linguistic terms. The suggested framework incorporates a set of fuzzy systems, each one of which focuses on different aspects of the urban growth dynamics, while the systems’ structu...

Fuzzy Cellular Automata Approach for Urban Growth Modeling

This work focuses on adapting artificial intelligence techniques for urban growth modeling using multitemporal imagery. Fuzzy set theory and cellular automata are used for this purpose. Fuzzy set theory preserves the spatial continuity of the growth process through allowing a test pixel to be partially developed unlike the binary crisp system (developed/undeveloped). The development level ident...

Change Detection - Cellular Automata Method for Urban Growth Modeling

This paper describes an on-going work on the development and implementation of cellular automata based urban growth modeling using multitemporal satellite imagery. The algorithm is designed to simulate the historical growth as a function of local neighbourhood structure of the input data. Transition rules in the algorithm drive the urban growth over time. Calibration is introduced in the cellul...

Brains vs. Brawn – Comparative strategies for the calibration of a Cellular Automata – Based Urban Growth Model

The need for good modelling tools to simulate urban growth are a planning tool necessary in today’s age of widespread urban growth and the natural and human disasters that quickly follow. The SLEUTH urban growth model is a CA-based urban change model that simulates urban growth according to a calibrated set of parameters. The following work compares two methods of calibration. The first, “Brute...

Urban Growth Modeling using Integrated Cellular Automata and Gravitational Search Algorithm (Case Study: Shiraz City, Iran)

Cities are growing and encountering many changes over time due to population growth and migration. Identification and detection of these changes play important roles in urban management and sustainable development. Urban growth models are divided into two main categories: first cellular models which are further divided into experimental, dynamic, and integrated models and second vector models. ...

Graph-cellular automata: a generalised discrete urban and regional model

A new type of dynamic spatial model is described: graph-cellular automatoa (graph-CA). First, the proximal model of space and geo-algebra are briefly introduced. Then, the graph-CA model is described, with an emphasis on understanding it as a reworking of the proximal model of space and also of geo-algebra. It is shown that graph-CA with particular structural properties defined in terms of the ...
